Our First 30 Days at Tucker Rec

Through a combination of leadership, vision and community cooperation, there have been some big changes happening at the Tucker Recreation Center. The City of Tucker's only been in charge a short time, but check out some tremendous progress in just the first 30 days!

City of Tucker Begins Operation of Recreation Center

After several months of planning and preparation, the City of Tucker officially assumed responsibility of the Tucker Recreation Center this morning. The facility, which is the most heavily utilized recreation center in DeKalb County, had been operated by the County since its inception.

Tucker Recreation Center Partnering with YMCA on After-School Program

The City is partnering with the Wade Walker YMCA to provide a quality program. The existing program and facility at the Recreation Center will be undergoing some improvements and new licensing as well. Throughout the process of improvements and licensing, we will be evaluating the program and location to determine the future of this very important program. We will be counting on the parents to provide feedback and help us improve.

Exciting Changes at Tucker Recreation Center

As your Parks and Rec Director, I’ve hired eight new staff members, who are being asked to hit the ground running. These talented professionals will oversee management, programs and student activities at the Rec Center. Some of them just started the week of Christmas, so there is sure to be a learning curve. Make sure to stop in, introduce yourself and make them feel welcome!
