A Comprehensive Plan is an official statement of the City’s vision for its future. It expresses the Tucker community’s aspirations and goals for its future, while articulating a corresponding set of policies and recommendations to guide future decisions regarding land use, development and capital improvements.
This page provides an online library of plans, reports and other information used as resources during the plan development process. It also presents summaries of workshops and draft chapters of the plan for public review over the course of the planning process led by consulting firm ‘The Collaborative’.
Georgia state law requires local governments to create, and then update a comprehensive plan every five years. Tucker embarked on the development of the City’s first Comprehensive Plan in 2016. The Comprehensive Planning process incorporated a collaborative, nine-month engagement of the community that resulted in a blueprint for achieving the desired future for Tucker. The plan defined the vision for the future of Tucker, established community goals and prioritized steps for achieving goals.
Tucker’s Community Council and Planning Commission have reviewed and heard resident feedback on these plans. The document is currently under review by the Atlanta Regional Commission and Georgia Department of Community Affairs. Once they sign off, the Comprehensive Plan will go back before the City Council for a final vote later this year.
