Benefits & Compensation

Benefits Plan Year – January 1, 2025 thru December 31, 2025

The value of your total annual compensation includes your pay plus the cost of City provided benefits.

Benefits Plan Year – Year 2024

Full-Time Employees are eligible to participate in the city’s insurance plans. Coverage will be effective the first of the month following date of hire. For example, if employee is hired on April 11, then effective date of coverage will be May 1. If the new employee’s hire date falls on the first day of the month, their health insurance coverage will be effective starting that same day. If the first day of the month is a holiday, the effective date of coverage remains the same; it will begin on the first day of the month, regardless of the holiday.

  • Health Insurance – Medical and Pharmacy Coverage through the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) (HMO, PPO, or POS).
  • Dental Insurance – Coverage through Anthem. 
  • Vision Insurance – Coverage through Anthem.
  • Group Basic Life Insurance – Coverage through The Standard. The City of Tucker provides life insurance to all full-time employees at no cost in the amount of $50,000. 
  • Voluntary Life Insurance – Coverage through The Standard. 
  • Group Short-Term Disability (STD) Insurance – Coverage through The Standard and paid for by the City. This benefit will provide income protection in the event of a disability as the result of an illness or accident that occurs off the job. This plan can replace up to 60% of your pre-disability earnings up to $1,000 per week once you have been disabled for either 1 day (injury) or 7 days (sickness) and will continue to pay for up to 11 weeks. 
  • Group Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance – Coverage through The Standard and paid for by the City. This benefit offers income protection in the event of a disability as the result of an illness or accident. This plan can replace up to 60% of your pre-disability earnings up to $10,000 per month once you have been disabled for 90 days and will continue to pay up until your disability ends or you reach your Normal Social Security Retirement age. 
  • Employee Assistance Program – All employees (PT and FT) have access to a very robust Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through The Standard. This program is free for employees and offers work-life services with up to 6 face-to-face visits with a licensed professional counselor per employee/family member.
  •  AFLAC – The City offers AFLAC benefits through payroll deduction. Plans such as cancer, critical illness, accident, or supplemental dental.

Please note: Premiums/Contributions (Sec. 125 Plan) – Health, Dental, and Vision Contributions are all deducted from your pay on a pre-tax basis (exempt from FICA, federal and state tax) which in turn provides significant cost savings. You will be able to make changes to any of your benefit elections during the Open Enrollment period. After Open Enrollment, your elections cannot be changed until the next annual Open Enrollment unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event (e.g., marriage, divorce, death of a spouse or child, birth or adoption of child or change of employment of your spouse as detailed in the Section 125 Regulations).Student Loans-William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program

Public Service Loan Forgiveness:

  • To qualify for forgiveness, the employee must have made 120 qualifying payments on my Direct Loans while employed full-time by the city. Neither the 120 qualifying payments nor employment must be consecutive.
  • Eligible Loans are loans made under the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program that are not in default.
  • Qualifying employment includes Federal, State, Local, or Tribal government organization, agency, or entity.

Job Postings

Once an open position is approved for recruitment, HR will generate job announcements on the city’s website and post the announcements on designated websites. Appropriate external recruitment sources will vary depending on the vacancy and will be determined by HR and the hiring manager.

In some cases, external recruiting may take place simultaneously to expedite the process as City needs require. Internal candidates may or may not be given preference depending on the circumstances.

Each job posting application deadline will have an Open-Until-Filled status. 

All internal applicants will receive notice from HR as to whether they will be interviewed for the position. Although you are not required to notify your supervisor that you have applied for a position, the supervisor will be notified should you become a final candidate. If hired for the position, the current and the new supervisor will work together to determine an appropriate transfer date.

Administrative Assistant
(Community Development)

Description :

Under the direction of the Community Development Director, this position coordinates and administers office operations for the Community Development Department, which includes Building & Permitting, Code Enforcement, Fire Marshal, Land Development, and Planning & Zoning.

Building Inspector

Description :

The Building Inspector inspects buildings and building systems at various stages of construction, alteration and repair for compliance with applicable state and local codes as well as conformance with project conditions. This position also performs other duties within the Building and Permitting Division of the Community Development Department.

Salary Pay Range: $65,162

Parks & Recreation Administrative Services Manager

Description :

The Administrative Manager performs a variety of highly responsible, confidential, and complex administrative and financial tasks in relieving the Director, Deputy Director and/or Division Managers of administrative detail, assuring the Department runs efficiently and effectively. Organizes and supervises administrative and front office support staff. Prioritizes work, delegates assignments, and ensures all work is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Evaluates staff and handles routine disciplinary issues of administrative and front office support staff. Requires advanced skills in all assigned office responsibilities and the exercise of sound judgment in the application of Department procedures and methods in receiving and responding to routine inquiries and requests concerning Department services. The position requires that the Administrative Manager maintain a professional, courteous, trustworthy, and respectful demeanor in all written, spoken, and personal communication interactions. Coordinates the management of financial functions assuring proper development and implementation of internal accounting controls, annual, and long-range financial plans for the Department.

Salary Pay Range: $52,152

Parks & Recreation Events Manager

Description :

The Events Manager oversees citywide event operations for the Parks and Recreation Department. This role includes managing city-sponsored events, coordinating third-party community events, and delivering distinctive programs and events unique to Tucker. The position ensures the implementation, coordination, and evaluation of events in alignment with the department’s comprehensive recreation program plan. Responsibilities also include supervising assigned part-time staff, volunteers, and contracted personnel. Work is performed under the guidance and direction of the Deputy Director.

Parks & Recreation Leader

Description :

The Parks & Recreation Leader, as directed, assists in coordinating the planning, organizing and execution of all Parks & Recreation programming, athletic activities, special events and facility rental usage and activities for the community. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and nights.
