Remembering Bill Rosenfeld

On losing such a critical member of our community, we ask ourselves, “What are we supposed to do now? How
will we carry on, and even in our darkest moments, why should we bother to carry on?” These are not rhetorical
questions; they’re quite real, and must be answered.

First, we grieve, each in our own way, and in so doing, we help and heal ourselves, but we also help to share the
burden of this loss to his family.

Second, we remember and acknowledge his many contributions to our lives. As a start, we are flying the
City’s flags at half-mast until this Friday night, marking one week since his passing. I want to encourage everyone
in the City of Tucker to do the same. And if you don’t fly a flag regularly, I encourage you to do so this week.

And third, we seek to learn from his example and to fill the gaps he leaves behind. Who will support all those
organizations now? Who will lead and participate and give of themselves as Bill did? Perhaps it will be you, in
big ways or small. I pray you’ll consider what you can do
to honor his legacy.
