City Council Wrap Up – 7.22.24

July 22, 2024 (Tucker, GA) Tucker’s Mayor and Council try to keep the second meeting of the months to presentations and updates but of late, it has turned into a voting meeting as well. The first item of business was a 5-0 vote to excuse Virginia Rece and Roger Orlando, both District 1 Councilmembers from attendance.

There were four presentations covering an update on the progress of the recommendations from the North/South Connectivity Study, an update on the Park and Recreation Master Plan five year update, a discussion on Economic Development incentives throughout the City, a presentation on the wildlife mitigation plan for the Lake Erin dam project in Henderson Park, and an update on the 5-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) dashboard.

The Mayor and Council then had a second read and vote to amend Chapter 14 of the Tucker code, Environment, enacting regulations relating to onsite sewage management systems. The amendment was approved 5-0. The fee schedule for Fiscal Year ’25 was then amended with a 5-0 vote.

The exciting item of the night was the approval of the contract award to Hasbun for the construction of the Tucker Town Green with a 5-0 vote from the Mayor and Council. Hasbun is a quality contractor and provided a bid of interest in the amount of 5.45 million dollars. Construction is set to start in August and is scheduled to be completed in 330 days, weather permitting.
