Following the successful eighth annual Celebration of Independence and Fireworks Spectacular on July 3, Tucker’s Mayor and Council met for their first business meeting of July on Monday evening.

Three players from the City’s State 8U baseball team led the Council and attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. The team represented the City in the GRPA state championship and finished 7th in the state of Georgia!

Mayor Auman introduced the City’s latest hire, Derrick Turner. Mr. Turner is the City’s Assistant City Manager and brings a varied background of experience to the City. The Mayor then presented the Park and Recreation Department with a proclamation declaring July of 2024 Park and Recreation Month.

The Council voted unanimously to approve the agenda for the evening after removing item I.8. The consent agenda was also approved unanimously which included the previous months’ meeting minutes and a stormwater repair contract.

The Mayor and Council then heard a second read and public hearing on an ordinance to consider a 12-month time extension or a termination of a SLUP previously approved in May of 2022 for 2059 Northlake Parkway. The approval to extend the SLUP by 12 months passed the Council with an unanimous vote.

Four contracts finished off the evening pertaining to sidewalk design and a memorandum of agreement with the Tucker Summit Community Improvement District for design of sidewalk on Mountain Industrial Blvd. All four contracts were approved unanimously.
