The City of Tucker Mayor and Council convened for their second meeting of the month on March 24, 2024. The evening’s agenda was approved with a unanimous vote.

James Tsismanikis, President of Discover DeKalb, presented the annual report for the City of Tucker. Discover DeKalb, the City’s contracted Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CVB), is responsible for leveraging the Hotel/Motel tax to promote business growth and development within Tucker. The Council then voted 7-0 on the Consent Agenda, which included three contracts for Public Works related to video capture, cleaning, and storm system repairs.

Subsequently, staff provided reports on February financials, upcoming agenda items, and an update on Economic Development.

In Old Business, the Council considered a second reading of an ordinance aimed at amending the City code regarding the OTC process. The proposed amendment seeks to remove unnecessary barriers for businesses paying Occupation Taxes to the City and aligns with state law. Unanimously, the amendment was approved. The Mayor and Council further granted unanimous approval for three contracts:

  1. A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Georgia Department of Transportation for project oversight.
  2. An MOA with the Tucker Summit CID for project oversight.
  3. A contract for engineering design for the Hugh Howell Road trail phase 2.

The meeting concluded without an executive session, adjourning at 8:42 p.m..
