Team Tucker – Molly Martin
What is your background and how did you come to choose a career in Parks and Recreation?
I graduated from Winona State University (Minnesota) with a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation in 2018. I decided to join the Peace Corps after graduation and lived in Tanzania, Africa for a year. When I got home in 2020, I decided to move to Georgia to pursue a master’s in social work at Georgia State University. After two years as a camp counselor with the City of Tucker, I knew that creating fun events and activities for the community was a perfect fit for me.
What’s your history with Tucker?
I first got involved with Tucker when I started as a camp counselor in 2021. I am still new to the area, so I am hoping to start running with the Tucker Running Club and explore more of the parks!
What are your primary responsibilities as a Recreation Leader?
As a Recreation Leader for the City of Tucker, my primary responsibilities include connecting with the community and creating and implementing fun activities and events for all community members of all ages!
What are you most excited to accomplish as a Recreation Leader?
I am really excited to implement more wilderness activities within the community. I love the outdoors and hope to bring that passion to others within Tucker.
Why is recreation important to a city?
Recreation in a city is important because it helps promote a sense of belonging, unity, and fun! Recreation can mean so many things to so many people, so I am excited for the opportunity to help others discover some new passions.
